How does the INFUSEĀ® Bone Graft/LT-CAGEĀ® Device compare to the bone taken from my hip?

Dr. Dennis G. Crandall
Mesa, AZ

The INFUSE® Bone Graft/LT-CAGE® Device causes the same type of bone to grow as would grow with bone graft taken from a person’s own pelvis.

Dr. Scott Boden
Decatur, GA

In the end, it makes bone that is identical without the pain and complication risks.

Dr. Kenneth A. Pettine
Loveland, CO

Early results with the INFUSE® Bone Graft/LT-CAGE® Device indicate a bone fusion rate equal to that of iliac wing bone harvesting.

Dr. Jeffrey C. Wang
Los Angeles, CA

Well if you look at the studies, it's been very extensively tested. And if you look at the studies it actually has shown to be equal.

Dr. Scott H. Kitchel
Eugene, OR

The INFUSE® Bone Graft/LT-CAGE® Device contains the protein needed for bone healing combined with a carrier sponge that simulates the structural function of the bone graft.

Dr. Jorge E. Isaza
Baton Rouge, LA

Initial studies show that there is not much difference between bone taken from your hip and the INFUSE® Bone Graft/LT-CAGE® Device, but the benefits of avoiding the complications associated with surgically accessing the hip or iliac crest, are favorable.

Dr. Kambiz Hannani
Los Angeles, CA

The INFUSE® Bone Graft/LT-CAGE® Device helps create the bony fusion you need without having to take extra bone from your hip. This eliminates the pain and risks associated with obtaining a bone graft from your hip.

Dr. Paul J. Slosar
Daly City, CA

The INFUSE® Bone Graft/LT-CAGE® Device is not bone. INFUSE® Bone Graft contains a protein soaked into a sponge. The job of the surgeon is to prepare your vertebrae appropriately so that when you place the INFUSE® sponge between the two vertebrae and inside the disc space with an LT-CAGE® Device the bone has the potential to bleed a little bit. The INFUSE® Bone Graft/LT-CAGE® Device works with these little blood vessels to make bone grow in the disc space between the two vertebrae.

The bone you take from your hip is placed between the vertebrae in a similar fashion to the INFUSE® Bone Graft/LT-CAGE® Device but then what your body has to do is dissolve the bone graft that you placed in there and then reproduce new bone in the area.

Dr. Theodore A. Belanger
Charlotte, NC

The INFUSE® Bone Graft/LT-CAGE® Device actually contains no bone. It stimulates your body to make bone wherever it is implanted. Similar proteins are found in bone taken from your pelvis, but taking bone from your pelvis may cause additional discomfort or, on occasion, other problems. Donor bone contains none of the active bone stimulating protein.
