Web sites from 47 countries were evaluated in 96 industry categories. The Web sites were judged on their design, content, copywriting, interactivity, navigation, innovation, and use of technology.

The WebAwards are given annually by the Web Marketing Association, Inc., an independent organization founded to evaluate and recognize standards of excellence on the World Wide Web. Judges included members of the media, advertising executives, site designers, creative directors, corporate marketing executives, content providers and webmasters.

Back.com is a patient education Web site about back pain and spinal health. The site is a resource where patients or caregivers can find reliable, balanced information. Back.com helps patients research symptoms, conditions, and non surgical and surgical therapies. The site provides patient stories, anatomy, a glossary, and a tool for finding a doctor in their area. The Web site provides tools such as free exercise videos, tips and news via an RSS feed, printable questions to ask a doctor, and even fun, easy-to-use eCards. No products are sold on the Web site and it carries no advertising. Back.com provides educational information so that patients can make an informed decision regarding treatment of their back pain.
